"These Tools are 'DREW' Originals -- they are the fastest and easiest to use Nail Pullers. Will remove nails with minimum damage to the wood." (per catalogues No. 59 and 63)
| "C. Drew and Company
developed the CAT'S PAW nailpuller many years ago to provide professional
carpenters with a special tool which could dig down into the hardest wood
and remove deeply imbedded nails. The tool has been so well received for
so many years that the name "CAT'S PAW", although specifically
intended to describe only our line of nailpullers, has been adopted as
a corporate logo to identify all of our mechanic's tools.
"The secret of the CAT'S PAW success lies in the design of the claw, or CAT'S PAW, which is drop forged from the finest tool steel available to a very thin walled claw shape and then ground on the sides and point to give an extremely sharp penetrating wedge which will cut down into the wood surrounding even a countersuck nail head. "A light tap with a hammer on the back of the claw is all that is needed to drive the claw under the nail head and with the 10 to 1 leverage ration build into the design of the CAT'S PAW, a 2000 lb. (or one ton) lift can easily be exerted to remove nails up to 16 penny in size. ". . . The name CAT'S PAW is a registered trademark (No.592,961) issued to C. DREW AND COMPANY for its exclusive use in describing 'hand tools for pulling nails' and its use by others for the purpose of identifying nail pulling tools is expressly prohibited." (From C. DREW catalogue, June 1968) |
