The following information is from:

"Sometimes called a carpet tucking tool, this popular tool is designed to drive carpeting into the crotch of stairs and into the gully on stair installations. The working edge is thin and somewhat blunt, and the corners of the blade are rounded to prevent tearing. The blade is an extrawide 2-3/4" for maximum coverage." (per catalogue: June 1968)
