Reference:

The following information is from:

"This most complete line of Pressure Rollers are used by mechanics in applying Plastics, Linoleum, Tile, Wall Paper, Etc., with contact adhesives. Use of Rollers for applying pressure to remove air pockets, provide good contact and securing good bonding has long been recommended by both the Laminate Manufacturers and the Adhesive Manufacturers. Other methods like hammering, tapping, Etc. are prominent reasons for bonding failures. Rubber rollers being flexible compensate for uneven surfaces applying equal pressure to high and low areas." (per "Pressurite Rollers" insert, January 1, 1963)
